Project Overview:
As a freelancer for Riverside International Speedway, I've had the pleasure of creating a lot of different design pieces, ranging from logo designs for events, each giving them their own special and unique feel throughout the year, to merchandise for the IWK 250, the biggest race & charity event at Riverside of the year.
Each design has its own problem to solve, and I take every piece as a fun challenge to create something great for the speedway, whether digital or print media.
Below, you'll see pieces such as the East Coast Classic Music Festival & Car Show, and all the different ideas that went into it, print pieces such as a banner for the charity promotion of Carson Hocevar's 2023 car, signage, merchandise, book covers, social media design, & more!

Designing Event Identities
Each event at Riverside International Speedway commands it's own identity, whether the identity be dependant on the prestige of the event, the activities trackside, or even just the time of year.
The events at the speedway all have their own flavour of racing, and it's up to me to create memorable logo designs for merchandise, promotional materials, and signage.
From expanding on the identity of the annual IWK 250, Riverside's most prestigious event, or creating new identities from scratch in the case of the Back to School Spectacular, East Coast Classics Music Festival, and more, these logos are designed with the stock car fan in first and foremost in front of mind, as the event logos blazon their shirts and hats for the weekend and years to come.
Classic Cars & Country Music
One of Riverside's newest events for the 2023 season was the East Coast Classics Music Festival and classic car show, a fall close-out event to the racing season.
The brand identity was crafted to match the classical elements of the event, with tall, 1950s inspired text holding up the main logo element, a guitar headstock encased by a sunset, representing the sunset of the racing season, and the time of day of the event.
The logo was further embellished with bulky dividers, evoking the chrome ornaments on 1950s cars that would run down the sides toward the taillights.
Many drafts and ideas went into the creation of the logo, many of which can be seen here.
Merchandise Design
Riverside International Speedway has allowed me to design and illustrate merchandise, both for their annual IWK 250 and for general designs to be sold at the track.
Editorial Design & On-Site Advertising
Among the projects I've tackled for RIS include sitemaps, brochures, magazine ads, stand-up cards for the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show, site maps, and billboards made for the track.
